Chiefs’ Special of a Talent Speaks Out After Training Camp Day 5: “I Felt Like Everybody Just Wanted Us to Lose…”

Kansas City, MO – July 28, 2025

After a stormy season in which all eyes of doubt turned toward the Kansas City Chiefs, Xavier Worthy—a young rising talent at wide receiver—has finally opened up about the experiences that changed him both on and off the field.

Last year, as the Chiefs faced rare defeats, a storm of injuries, and relentless media pressure, Worthy—then just a rookie—had to grow up faster than anyone expected. He became an unexpected breakout star in the playoffs, but that period was heavy and dark.

“I felt like everybody just wanted us to lose,” Worthy admitted in his first interview at this year’s camp. “I read all the comments, heard every take about how our team’s time was over, about how we couldn’t get back up after a loss. Those defeats were truly dark—there were times I just wanted to disappear from the spotlight. But then I realized, I had two choices: accept it and fold, or use it as fuel to level up.”

Those brutal playoff experiences changed Worthy. He dedicated his entire offseason to improving his strength, skills, learning to handle pressure, and building stronger chemistry with Mahomes and the other young receivers. Coaches have already noticed how much he’s grown—both mentally and physically.

“This season, I’m going to prove it all on the field,” Worthy affirmed. “Not just for myself—for the whole team, for Chiefs fans, and for the people who doubted us. Now, I’m more ready than ever.”

Amid a wave of youth and a burning desire to return to the top, Worthy’s unbreakable spirit is inspiring the entire squad. The 2025 season may be the stage where he—and all of Kansas City—write the next chapter of redemption.

Bears Could Get Huge Boost to Pass Rush for ‘MNF’ vs. Commanders
Bears defensive end Austin Booker could return in Week 6. The Chicago Bears could receive a significant boost to their pass rush when they take on the Washington Commanders for Monday Night Football in Week 6. The Bears are now eligible to designate second-year defensive end Austin Booker for return from the injured reserve list after he missed the first four games of the season. Booker had shone in the preseason and seemed the likely choice to serve as the Bears‘ top rotational pass rusher behind veterans Montez Sweat and Dayo Odeyingbo coming into the 2025 season, but he suffered a knee injury in August that forced the team to place him on the short-term injured reserve list after the 53-man roster cutdown. Once the Bears designate him for return, they will have 21 days to activate him to the roster or else must leave him on IR for the year. The Bears could provide clues to Booker’s status when they hold their first practice of the week on Wednesday and issue their first injury report for Sunday’s prime-time date with the Commanders. They would need to activate Booker by Saturday afternoon at the latest for him to have a chance of suiting up for them on Monday Night Football. The Bears (2-2) will take on the Commanders (3-2) at 8:15 p.m. ET next Monday.
